CNS programs

One speech platform, many CNS programs

Speech recruits memory, word-finding, articulation, prosody and timing at once. Those domains are affected across CNS disease, which is why one measurement platform serves several indications.

We have programs in Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, Huntington's and ALS. In depression and in the behavioural symptoms of dementia, the endpoint is a rating produced from an interview. Where that interview is recorded, a second reading attaches to the audio you already hold.

Why one platform transfers across indications

Producing a sentence takes planning, lexical retrieval, breath support, laryngeal control and articulation: cognitive and motor systems working together. CNS conditions disturb different parts of that chain, but they disturb the same measurable chain.

What changes between indications is which domains carry the signal; the architecture stays the same.

Your interview recordings hold a second reading

In depression and the behavioural symptoms of dementia, the primary outcome comes from an interview, often recorded.

What comes back
A second reading
A reading on the scale the study already scores, derived the same way at every site.

Where a depression reading attaches

MADRS is scored from a spoken interview, on integer steps. Where that interview is recorded, speech gives a second, consistent reading on the MADRS.

Caregiver and patient, separated by voice

In BPSD trials the rating draws heavily on a caregiver interview.
